Will Tolerate &

Keeping in Going

  • Eggplants are cold sensitive and need warm temperatures to thrive.

  • Keep soil moist.

  • Allow space between plants for proper air flow.

  • May need to be staked when fruit appears - to keep plant upright

  • Don't over-fertilize.  Too much nitrogen often results in large, bushy plants that produce only one small set of fruit.

  • Clip fruit stem with shears. Pick fruits of desired size regularly to encourage further production.

  • For mature fruits, harvest after some color appears but always while fruits still have their glossy shine.

Won't Tolerate

  • Cold temperatures will damage the plants roots
  • Will not tolerate drought
